Changing the Way Canadians Think About Disability

The Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons was established in 1985 to assist people with physical disabilities to live fuller lives and recognize their contributions and achievements.

In Canada there are over two million people with physical disabilities. These Canadians have specialized needs for housing, education, treatment and research. Many require assistance with respect to retraining, employment and recreation. The need is great and public awareness is low.

The Foundation has since initiated a number of successful ventures, some of which are listed below.

1. The Great Valentine Gala
2. Rolling Rampage
3. WhyNot Marathon
4. Canadian Helen Keller Centre
5. The Rotary Cheshire Home
6. Terry Fox Hall of Fame renamed The Canadian Disability Hall of Fame
7. King Clancy Awards

9. Jeff Adams CN Tower Climb
10. WhyNot Magazine - 3x annually
11. Globe and Mail, Focus On Ability; Toronto Star, Perspectives
